Searchers and Your Internet Marketing Business
So you want to be very clear when you are driving traffic to a page what is that one thing you want them to do. With this we proceed and clearly define the three different types of searchers that we have. In a nutshell, we have information seekers and really everybody who does a search is an information seeker.
So we are looking at a big piece of the pie that then shrinks down and becomes more focused. We have shoppers and we ultimately have buyers. Buyers and shoppers are more like more refined versions of information seekers, and the more of them that you have in your business, the better will it be for you as an internet marketer.
Information seekers know that they want something but they don’t know what it is. A typical information seeker may want a new car but he still does not know what kind. So he is going to search for it online and type keywords such as: ‘car’ to help augment his search.
And we see huge search volumes for a word like car but it could be anything. You as an internet marketer still has no idea at that point whether they want a new car, a used car, a toy car, or remote control car.
So most of these information seekers search on very general terms that at the beginning of the search process they need basic information and they don’t want to pay for it. And these are ideal squeeze page visitors. Free downloads are a good approach to take with them.
The next on your list of searchers would have to be the shoppers. These are people who already has background information. They’ve done a little research and at this point and they might be saying something like this: “I want a car and the kind of car that I want is a hybrid car or I want a Ford truck.”
As an internet marketer, catering to a shopper now leads you to a place where you know that they have an idea and they are considering their options. They are beyond the basic phase and these people really are ideal for product reviews.
If you want to do a name squeeze and give them away something for free, you can use this pitch:”Download this free report on the top ten hybrid cars in 2006 review.” And there is no better way to reach to shoppers than giving them something they can use to help them make the right decision.
Finally, as an internet marketer you can go after people in purchase mode. People in purchase mode are ready to take action. They know what they want and they are looking for the best offer. So on your part, you ought to offer an enticement that serves to satisfy that need. This is the group that you call your buyers.
That where they are looking for confirmation that they are making the right decision. Your main thrust is in playing on people’s doubts and insecurities. The best way is to ensure that they are not making a bad choice and that you are giving them extra guarantee such as warranties and money-back options.
